The "smoke point" refers to the specific temperature at which an edible oil, upon being heated, begins to emit a continuous stream of blue smoke as its low-boiling-point and thermally unstable components volatilize. Traditional methods relying on visual observation by the human eye have proven to be inaccurate and prone to observer fatigue. Similarly, methods utilizing smoke sensors have also demonstrated a lack of accuracy, largely due to factors such as the thermal instability of the electronic components involved.
To address these limitations, we have developed a system that replaces the human eye with an industrial-grade camera to monitor the entire process of smoke generation as the oil is heated. By employing advanced image recognition technology, the instrument can accurately determine the oil's smoke point. Based on this innovative concept, we have successfully developed and manufactured this fully automatic edible oil smoke point tester—a device that has been awarded a National Invention Patent (Patent No.: 202110224719.3).

l · The instrument features a large-format color LCD screen with a touch-screen keypad, offering a fully Chinese-language human-machine interface complete with intuitive prompt menus and a guided input workflow.
l · The instrument displays real-time video footage of the heating zone on the screen, allowing users to observe the onset of smoke generation. It also graphically displays the temperature rise as a function of test duration. The device includes intelligent software prompts to assist in correcting operational errors and provides on-screen indications for key parameters such as the test date and time.
l · Boasting an advanced design and a user-friendly interface, the instrument is easy to operate and delivers highly accurate test results. It is equipped with a USB interface, enabling the direct uploading of measurement data.
l · Users can review the recorded video footage of the smoke generation process to verify the accuracy of the determined smoke point, thereby ensuring the traceability of the results.
l · The entire process—from detection to data printing—is fully automated. The temperature sensor automatically lowers into position at the start of the test and retracts upon completion.
l · Upon the conclusion of the testing process, the instrument automatically deactivates the heating system and activates a cooling fan, ensuring intelligent and safe operation.
